VIDEO TRIBUTE TO REVEREND GREASON, MONTFORD POINT MARINES PDF Print

WASHINGTON (July 3) – The patriotic service of Reverend William Greason of Birmingham and his fellow Montford Point Marines is commemorated in a special video on the YouTube page of Congressman Spencer Bachus (AL-6).

The Montford Point Marines, the nation’s first African-American Marines, were presented with a Congressional Gold Medal at the U.S. Capitol on June 27 in recognition of their wartime heroism and historic role in helping to integrate our military and society.  Reverend Greason, a veteran of the invasion of Iwo Jima, attended the ceremony.

Reverend Greason was also honored during a program held at Rickwood Field in Birmingham in conjunction with the 2012 Rickwood Classic. Congressman Bachus and Congresswoman Terri Sewell (AL-7), along with Friends of Rickwood Field, hosted the tribute.
