CONGRESSMAN BACHUS HONORED FOR SUPPORT OF HEALTH CARE INNOVATION PDF Print

WASHINGTON (May 2) – Congressman Spencer Bachus (AL-6) has been named a “Champion of Healthcare Innovation” for his legislative record in promoting advanced medical technologies.

Bachus, who is a member of the House Biomedical Caucus, was honored at a ceremony held on Capitol Hill by the Healthcare Leadership Council.

“We can be proud that our healthcare facilities in the State of Alabama are on the cutting edge of new technologies and treatments. Our state is also home to an emerging biotechnology industry that will help produce the breakthrough treatments and cures of the future. An innovative healthcare sector is vital to the health of the citizens of Alabama, the creation of high-paying jobs, and the vibrancy of the U.S. economy, and I appreciate the work that the Healthcare Leadership Council is doing to keep innovation and new technology in the forefront,” Congressman Bachus said.

“Perfecting a 21st century healthcare system that is both affordable and accessible for all Americans and that provides care of the highest quality hinges on support for healthcare innovation. We need to constantly develop new and better ways to deliver care and link patients and consumers to the healthcare system. We’re grateful for Congressman Bachus’ leadership, dedication, and hard work in advancing the quality, accessibility, and cost-effectiveness of American healthcare,” said HLC President Mark R. Grealey.

As Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, Congressman Bachus recently played a lead role in the development of the JOBS (Jumpstart Our Business Startups) Act, which will help improve access to financing for biotechnology and other emerging companies. The JOBS Act was signed into law on April 5.
