It is a privilege to be able to extend my personal commendation to the Alabama-Mississippi Chapter of the National MS Society as you prepare for this year’s Birmingham Walk MS.

Multiple Sclerosis is a challenging disease for individuals diagnosed with it, as well as for the loving family members and friends around them. Thanks to medical research that the National MS Society has helped to champion, advances in treatment and understanding are creating greater hope for those who live daily with MS.

We in the State of Alabama are fortunate to have an active patient advocate in the Alabama-Mississippi Chapter of the National MS Society, which serves more than 6,000 people living with MS in its two-state region. The Birmingham Walk MS that will be held at Homewood Park on Saturday, April 14 is an inspiring event that will raise research funds and increase awareness of MS in our local community. It brings together a broad cross-section of patients, participants and volunteers to publicly support a most important cause.

It is my hope that your event will enjoy great success, and the Alabama-Mississippi Chapter of the National MS Society should be rightfully proud of its service on behalf of the people of the Birmingham region and our state.
