WASHINGTON (November 14) – The U.S. Supreme Court announced today that it will hear legal arguments on the constitutionality of the new government-run health care law. Congressman Spencer Bachus (AL-6), who voted against Obamacare and has stated that it violates the Constitution, has sought a review of the law. Bachus and 104 colleagues submitted a legal brief asking the high court to take up the case. “My view all along has been that the individual mandate to buy health insurance is unconstitutional and an overreach of congressional authority,” Congressman Bachus said in filing the request on October 28. The high court has scheduled oral arguments for next March, with two hours to be devoted to the constitutionality of the individual mandate. A ruling on the law could come by the end of next June.
